| soupcraze's Full Review: Vtech VT 1920 900 MHz - Cordless Phone |
I have gone through many 900MhZ cordless phones in the past. Mainly Sony phones and also Panasonic phones. They always broke down too quickly and had large amounts of static. Finally after our Panasonic cordless broke down for good, we went to Best Buy. We saw the VTech VTHJ1920 for a REALLY low price. Around $70 with a mail-in rebate. It was so hard to resist, so we bought it. We had it for a few months now, and here's what I found with it.
Price:
The price is $129.95, but you can get it much cheaper. We got ours less than $50, it's always possible to find good deals. $129.95 is still a great price for this phone.
Looks:
The phones do look pretty good. They come in many different cool colors. The hub and phone both are the same color and will look appealing in any part of your home.
Reception:
This phone has been just INCREDIBLE. All of the incoming or outgoing calls are always CLEAR. We have had no problems with static or the phone making strange noises. Our older cordless phones were never able to compare to the VTech phones.
Size:
Don't expect this to be like a cell phone. It is big and vulky, but is lighter than most other cordless phones. The size is manageable and will fit in any part of your house, including tight spaces. The size is nothing to worry about.
Features:
This phone comes with some nice features. It comes with Caller ID (A GREAT feature, but you have to suscribe to it: AT&T Ameritech ETC.) After getting this phone, I can no longer live without Caller ID anymore. It's quite useful for anti-telemarketer tactics (Check it out at my website). On the screen, telemarketers show up as:
UNAVAILABLE
UNAVAILABLE
But it can sometimes be people from foreign countries.
The phone also has quite a nice LCD that is adaquately sized for a cordless phone. It has no color and can't play games like Nokia cell phones, but it can display long phone numbers and long Caller ID messages quite well.
Other features include a 50 number memory for Caller ID (It will store all ingoing numbers unless you delete them, up to 50 of them :) ) It has a nice feature of volume adjustment at 4 levels. It has speed-dial and other cool things that would make life a lot easier.
Navigation:
Navigating through Caller ID and memory is very easy. It uses the lower numbers of the keypad, and has little symbols drawn on top of the buttons just for some extra help. It is very efficient, fast, and navigate through some of the features on this phone.
Durability:
This phone is for most part VERY long lasting and hard to break. If you hit the buttons really hard for long periods of time. They become less responsive :( But in durability, this phone clearly outperforms ALL competition, even from Panasonic phones.
The Verdict:
This phone can clearly be called SUPERIOR to all other phones. It looks much better, has better features, has better reception, and lives MUCH longer. This phone is at a great price. It's a truly best buy that wont fail you.
