| rlmpogue's Full Review: Vtech VT 2461 2.4 GHz 1-Line Cordless Phone |
I purchased this product 8 months ago and was generally pleased with how it operated. However, yesterday the answering machine portion broke and when I called Vtech customer service I was informed that this tended to happen often with this model. I was also informed about their useless warranty policy which requires me to ship the defective unit back to them at my inconvenience and expense and once they receive the unit they have up to 14 business days to send out a new, properly working one.
I'm not sure why Vtech thinks their customers would be ok with not having a phone or answering machine for 3-4 weeks, but they seemed to thik this was an entirely acceptable policy and would not even go to the extra effort to send me a pre-paid mailer so that I could just return the item without having to go hunt down a UPS shipping location. (UPS was the preferred carrier). They also would not agree to send the replacement via overnight mail even when I escalated the matter and spoke with the manager of their customer service group. (She was completely useless and incompetent and hung up on me before I could get the address to ship the return to)
The phone was nice while it lasted but not anything I'd want to have to rely on. I'm now going to have to buy a new phone so that we have something to use while Vtech takes its sweet time sending us a new one which will probably break in another 4 months as soon as the warranty period ends.
I'm very disappointed in this company and will not do business with them again.
