| Social14's Full Review: Vtech VT 9111 900 MHz - Cordless Phone |
My sister received this phone for her 18th birthday right before her freshman year of college. After using it once, I decided I too wanted it for school. I watched the ads, and bought it on sale.
My phone is a blueish color. It can be mounted on the wall, but ours is sitting on top of the television set. I've owned it for nearly a year now, and have had no problems with it.
As with most cordless phones, sometimes we get static or other conversations, but that can be changed with a hit of the channel button. There is a volume switch on the side that gives you three levels (ours is usually on the low or middle level - very rarely do we find ourselves having to switch it to the higher one). We've left it off the charger at times, but it has never lost it's "charge" during those lengthy times.
Our phone has a pretty good distance capability too. At home, the phone was plugged into the upstairs jack. My dad was able to take the phone out of the house and down the street to the corner, which is three houses down. Here at school, my roommates and I wander around the building and have not had a problem with it at all.
The set ringer is very annoying. It is higher pitched and LOUD! We reset it once, but, after the power went out one night it went back to the original ring and we never got around to changing it again. But, in a way it is a good thing because it is very distinct and no one else in our suite has a ring quite like it. For this reason, when I am in one of the other rooms and my phone rings, I know it is definitely my phone!
The page system is included on the phone, and that is a definite plus. If one of my roommates was using the phone, then left to go to class without putting it back, I have to search for the phone. In the past, I would start searching the room; looking in desk drawers, bed covers, and even closets. Now, with the push of a button, the phone beeps and I follow the sound. The beeps continue until you either turn the phone on, or stick it back into the charger.
All three of us (my roomies and I) highly recommend this phone to all those looking for a phone to buy. It is relatively inexpensive compared to other cordless phones, and it seems to be durable and high quality.
