This phone is pretty much the basic no frills model. No special caller ID or digital answering machine. It's a cordless phone but nonetheless a great quality phone it is! Offered in a rainbow of vibrant colors, it's easy to use and kid-friendly (then again, what ISN'T kid-friendly these days?). There aren't a plethora of useless extras with this phone, it comes with the base, the handset, the power adapter, the phone cord, a wall mount, and a simple instruction sheet. All essential to a basic phone. But another great thing about it is it's small compact shape. Many other phones are needlessly large but this phone packs it's punch in one little package. The base is simple, with just a page button. The handset is small and fits well into the palm or your hand. It's curved shape is easy to hold and comfortable to use for hours on end. It's actually become the most popular model in our house, with two of these and an inferior 24 channel cordless. Also the antenna is really small so it doesn't get in the way while you're talking.
With the 900 MHz, there is no need to constantly switch from channel to channel when you hit a high-static spot, basically because there is NO static. The phone has always been clear for as long as I've had it (about a year) and I have had no troubles with it.
The phone stores up to 10 speed-dial numbers and is relatively easy to program them in. And even easier to dial them, just press *MEM* and the number in which the phone number you want to call is stored to. The only bad thing about this is now I can't remember my friends' phone numbers because they're all on speed-dial :) And with 3 cordless phones in our house, we set them with different ringing patterns. Yes, when we receive a call, all three of them ring (which defeats the purpose of distinctive ringing) but we thought it was cool feature to have anyways.
This is a a pretty durable phone, withstanding many drops on the hard ground and still functioning perfectly fine afterwards. So overall, this phone is made to last, very easy to use, is appealing to all age ranges, and makes for a great basic phone system. Highly recommended.
