| winfrey123's Full Review: Pioneer GM-X522 Car Amp |
I bought this with a Pioneer DEH-P2000 cd player and a Rockford Fosgate Punch 100w subwoofer. I'd never installed an amp before but this combo made it an easy 45 minute job.
Using one channel(sub), this amp puts out 150w of power. You could go with a 150w speaker, but trust me when I say that a 100 puts out PLENTY of bass, especially for the overall price(I paid about $500 for my whole system, including the cd player, amp, 4 120w speakers, sub, and amp cables), and the sound quality stays clear and sharp.
When installing I'd try to find a place with good ventilation, as it is not equipped with a cooling fan. I didn't think about that, and mine fried itself after less than a month. Luckily I bought a warranty(I paid $185 total at Best Buy, that was 160 for the amp and 25 for the warranty), so I got it replaced for free and this time I put it where it could breath properly. I haven't had a single problem since.
There's not really much more to be said, except that I'm satisfied with my purchase and would recommend this amp to anyone who wants to get good bass but doesn't want to pay a lot for it.
