Pros: Write once ability with low cost media.
Compatible with most DVD players
Cons: Weak bundled software (MyDVD)
The Bottom Line: Until DVD+RW drives gets cheaper, record to write once media, or have very cheap RW media like the Pioneer, THIS IS THE ONE TO BUY FOR MAKING DVDs!

| larryhorwitz's Full Review: Pioneer DVR A03 DVD-RW Burner |
Others have written about the ease of installation and marginal software packages. The biggest advantage of the DVR-A03 is the ability to produce low cost write-once DVDs for about 4 bucks apiece. The drive has been around a while, and is very mature with lots of sources for media. The HP and other DVD+RW drives (Ricoh, Phillips) are very recent, the media is comparatively scarce, and, most important, these drives only record to rewritable media, which costs $10 and up per disk. (The Pioneer rewritable DVD-RWs can be had for $6 each if rewriting is your preference.) Although the competing +RW drives will supposedly by upgradeable to use the less expensive write once media, it now appears that the manufacturers have retracted this promise, and offer a newer drive instead.
