| grrickar's Full Review: Pioneer DEH-P460MP Car CD/ MP3 Player |
I purchased the DEH-P460MP locally from a car electronics store and had it installed. The lines of the unit are clean and all menus offered by the unit are easily accessable by either the remote or the buttons on the unit itself.
I would have liked the option to dim the display, since it is much brighter than the typical dash illumination, but if you really wanted to you could flip down the faceplace and that will turn off the light altogether, even with the unit playing.
One thing that I did notice is that I cannot eject a CD when the vehicle is powered off. I'm not sure if this is a result of how they hooked up my unit or if it just is a missing capability of this model. Not that big a deal, but it is a nuisance if you want to get your CD out and you already have the key out of the ignition.
For a Premier model, I would have thought that the unit would have came with a hardcase for the faceplate, but I found that this was not the case. Cheaper JVC units with less features have this, so I have no idea why Pioneer does not supply one.
It does play MP3 and WMA files burned to CD remarkably well. You can organize your music into folders, and it will allow you to have up to a 18 folder deep hierarchy. Browsing the songs is easier with folders, but you can also jump 10 songs at a time on a CD. It supports ID3 tags and CD text. Some MP3s I created CD Audio disks with now show me the artist name and song title, much to my surprise.
