| dhbatch's Full Review: Pioneer TS-A1670R Coaxial Car Speaker |
I have had these in my car for about 1 week now. I will start by mentioning that I have a 2000 Honda CRV SE, and these installed in like 5 minutes in the front. As for the sound, they are being powered by an AIWA CDC-X504MP, which claims to put out around 23 Watts RMS per channel. Well, these speakers are rated at 35 Watts RMS. So I have not had the chance to really push these speakers the way they are supposed to be pushed. So most of my listening has been with minimal to no bass, and at modest volume levels. What I have gotten out of listening to them like this is the conclusion that they are excellent speakers for a newbie, low-end car audio starter set. They would be perfect complements for a amp/subwoofer package. The highs and mids on these speakers are really fantastic, very crisp and very bright. They have also added something to the stereo imagery of the music. The crispness allows for better separation. I think with a quality amplifier driving these speakers, the true merit of their quality will be found. The underpowered head unit just does them no justice.
Negatives:
These speakers cost too much. Don't buy them unless you shop around the internet stores. The brick-and-mortar shops' prices are not worth it. I mention this because at 80 dollars a pair, you can get something that is probably a lot better. So I personally don't think they offer the draw-dropping awe that you might expect for that price.
