| kmass's Full Review: Pioneer TS-W29C Car Subwoofer |
Pioneer has done it again! What a surprise! This sub was the solution I had long been waiting for. One that has performance, quality and a price that doesn't hurt my wallet. I've always loved the challenge of trying to formulate a system with a meager budget! I had been disappointed in the past with subs that just don't cut it. I've bought cheap subs that pop after a few months. Man, did I get BURNED! I know you get what you pay for!
I had recently popped 2 Jensen aluminum subwoofers in my single 10" bandpass box.(Yes, I had bought one to replace the other - but to no avail) These babies rocked my car. I was running a 300 Watt Jensen amp in mono. Till one day, I turned my system and the sub didn't respond. I replaced it with another with the same result. I thought to myself what could replace an aluminum sub that really pounds the car with heart stopping bass. To my disappointment, I had also tested the amp, and I found there was a short in the bridging circuit which fried my sub. The amp works but there's a surge that kills the sub so I replaced it as well!
I waited this time for Boxing Day, and boy I was not disappointed! This sub was for a meager $50 CAD, which I ordered on line.I just didn't have the time to shop.I also bought a 250 Watt MTX bridgeable amp for $30 CAD (no joke- no typo!). Thank God for Boxing Day! I was familiar with the Pioneer name which prompted me to buy this sub. I was running a regular Tsunami 10" subwoofer in my bandpass box at the time.. It was pretty good but there are some freestyle, Miami bass, rap, R&B songs that just don't sound right. I went online and found this sub!
I couldn't resist the deal. I replaced the Tsunami's in search for audio perfection. WOW! Pioneer was true to their word in terms of the specs written on the box. The bass response filled the car nicely (I have a 2 door hatchback) I did not go wrong with this purchase. I went wrong in the past buying cheap speakers without researching reviews for them. I could've gotten them right from the start instead of blowing away cash needlessly. Now I'm HAPPY... Thanks Pioneer!(... and MTX!)
