Pros: A LOT of expensive features on a relatively inexpensive little unit...
Cons: None so far.
The Bottom Line: Yeah, it's not the most expensive or the most loaded model on the market, but this is a tremendous unit for basically peanuts...how can you argue with that???

| guitarflip's Full Review: Pioneer VSX-D812 7.1 Channels Receiver |
I just picked one of these up a week ago and it's even better than I thought before I bought it. I was determined to buy a receiver with 6.1ch capability, but until the D811/D812 came out, you would have to spend $400 to get it. Research it--I cannot emphasize enough the amount of top-of-the-line features on this affordable model (Dolby EX 6.1, 7.1ch output, plenty of inputs--especially more optical and coax than similar units, pro-logic II, neo: 6, programmable advanced surround, and 100w/channel--that's actually accurate) I narrowed my search down to the Kenwood VR6070 and the Pioneer VSX-D812, and in the end the D812 performs just as well for more than $100 less. Cheap receivers have earned a rep for delivering far less power than "rated" because of the lack of testing standards, but the 100w/channel is an accurate estimate for the d812--plenty of power to go around.
