price increase (Reply to this comment)

I have noticed that several LCDs I am interested in have gone up since reviews I have read. This one is now higher at Dell, even with 10% discount and coupon on top.
It doesn't appear to adjust up and down, anyone miss this feature?

A note on the refresh rate (Reply to this comment)
by madcowsb
Just so nobody gets the wrong idea, the refresh rate stat really isn't relevant on an LCD screen. On a CRT, this is the number of times per second that the screen is redrawn. Since a CRT is a VERY analog device (that is, pixels are lit up at a particular location by varying one electric field to pull a beam up or down and a second to pull it left or right). So you have one dot zig-zagging around the screen super fast. But once the beam has moved on, the pixel fades. That's why a 60Hz refresh rate on a CRT looks horrible, since you can then notice that dot shooting around.
On an LCD, however, the screen will typically only accept 60Hz. This is fine though, because while the screen updates 60 times a second, the WHOLE SCREEN gets redrawn at once and the pixels stay lit until told to do otherwise.
That said I've never had a chance to see this display, but I might take a look at it...

Great Deal - awesome display (Reply to this comment)
by rbroders
I purchased this display largely based on Andyman's great review, and I love it. I also used got this monitor from Dell for about 800 and feel I got a great deal. Best of all is that this large display comes in a small package and fits great in my computer hutch (the 17" CRT it replaced just barely fit!).
