| johnetaylor's Full Review: Planar Radia X3 Speaker |
I have been looking for "clean" sound ever since I got AR4x's in the 1960's. These speakers are referred to as "planar hybred" using ribbon tweeters and relativily small 5 inch metal cones for mid and low range. I use them with the X1 center channel that has similiar construction. [I also use 2 X1's for rear surrounds.] I must say that I am pleased with the clarity of these Radia X3's Precussions such as the sound track to the re done planet of the apes stand out. These have enough of a low end that in a moderate sized room ,a sub is not necessary. I use one anyway and have the crossover turned way down so as to not muddy up the crisp sound that these deliver. Classical music is great on these giving you the impression that you are there when you close your eyes. If you don't have $10,000 to spend on speakers but want nice sound try these!
