Pros: Good display; compass calibration method is excellent.
Cons: The "drive carefully, travel safely" power on voice announcement will drive you nuts.
The Bottom Line: The "drive carefully, arrive safely" voice announcement EVERY TIME this unit is powered up will quickly drive you NUTS.

This would be a very nice radar detector/compass except for the idiotic, non defeatable power on voice announcement "drive carefully, travel safely." You hear this EVERY TIME the unit is powered up. The "mute" button does NOT defeat this characteristic.
What a shame; what was PNI ever thinking of when they made this power up mode non-defeatable (I confirmed this in an e-mail to PNI).
The display readout is easily readable, even in bright daylight. The ability to turn off X-band alerts is a nice option for city driving.
Compass calibration is excellent; just toggle into "calibrate" mode, drive two circles, then toggle out of calibrate. Any distortions caused by nearby metallic objects (e.g., a metal mounting bracket, for motorcycle use) is then calibrated out.
