The Polk PSW10 subwoofer was chosen to replace a JBL Sub due to failure of it's built-in Amp. My home theater system consists of a 500 Watt Kenwood 5.1 Receiver driving JBL front, center, and rear speakers, and now the new PSW10 Sub. This was my first purchase of a Polk audio component.
One month has now passed since I hooked-up the PSW10 and I must say that it's performance continues to impress me, providing a critical part of the low frequency range that apparently was somewhat missing. The PSW10 subwoofer punches out solid, crisp bass without any noticeable distortion nor annoying booming across a wide spectrum of db levels.
The attentuation controls on the back of the cabinet respond well and the quality of cabinet construction is very visible. Polk apparently maintains a high degree of design and quality control which is evident with the PSW10.
In summary, the bass from the Polk PSW10 can be characterized as "authentic" to the extent that the realism of bass instruments become instantly "live" without over powering sound from other instruments.
The PSW10 has met all of my listening requirements and beyond.
