Worth the Money!

Pros: Affordable, does the job if your listening area isn't huge
Cons: Is probably a little too weak to complement a large surround setup.
The Bottom Line: The quality of sound that comes out of these speakers are very good for an medium sized living room. Anything larger would probably require larger and more expensive speakers.

After doing some grueling physical labor over the summer, I decided that I wanted to indulge in surround sound. However, I am a college student and like many college students, I am financially challenged. So I had to settle for something cheap.
I dished out around $120 for a pair of these Polk R15 speakers at Circuit City last Sept, 2003. After several months of use, I am very glad I purchased them and am very satisfied with the product. Granted they aren't exactly top of the line speakers (they're only bookshelf speakers to begin with). However, my apartment isn't that big and the surround sound setup encompasses an approximate 7 ft. by 10 ft. area. That isn't that large and so the quality of these speakers fits perfectly with its setup.
The speakers are very sturdy and have an attractive wood look to them. They also have built-in keyhole wall mounting slots so you can put them on the wall. It has a 5.25" Midrange driver and a 0.75" dome tweeter that leads to a clean bass and crystal clear sound. It is very suitable for any type of movie, as the voices and imaging emitted are very distinguishable and don't cause any sort of distortion or confusion in sound. You can play just about any kind of music but if you're really into rap and hip-hop, you might want to invest in a subwoofer. That's probably the only drawback with these speakers.
It can handle 100 Watts of power which isn't that much but like I said, for the dimensions of my entertainment, it does the job extremely well. So for those who are in the same situation as I am, regarding both finance and living conditions, I highly recommend these speakers to complement your surround sound setup. However, if you're looking for something more powerful, these might not do the job.
