Pros: Price, size.
Cons: Firmware, tech support.
The Bottom Line: Buy something else... low price, but quality reflects it.

| timcosco's Full Review: Frontier NEX IIe (32 MB) MP3 Player |
I received a bad unit purchased from etronics.com that was drop shipped directly from a Frontier Labs distributor. Quality and construction materials are "chintzy", but to be fair, one maybe shouldn't expect much else at the low price.
The firmware was version 1.0 and failed to initialize properly. It would hang within different menus and required that I remove the batteries in order to restart.
Once the unit did initialize, the menu system appeared to default to a factory test menu instead of the user menu described in the manual.
WinXP reported a USB powersurge when connected to an Intel motherboard. The USB port failed to recognize the unit under WinXP running on Abit and Asus motherboards... same was true when trying to connect to an HP motherboard running WinME. Having hooked up scanners, digicams, printers, etc. to USB ports in the past, I believe the fault was within the player itself.
Tech support is achieved via email only from Hong Kong and is virtually non-existent beyond the FAQ on their website.
