| daed's Full Review: Rio Sport S30S (64 MB) MP3 Player |
This product is relatively decent if the target application is light workouts. The plastic belt-clip housing makes it difficult to adjust the volume during workouts so it's best applied to an activity where the surrounding noises do not change volumes.
I found the menus slightly cumbersome though mostly useful. It would be super to have a delete ability.
The most annoying part of this player is almost it's best. The versatility of adding MMC or SD cards up to 512MB in size can expand this player very nicely. However, the fact that you must use the RIO software (mostly garbage) to manage the songs on the player is ridiculous. With over 500MB of songs on the player it's extremely difficult to navigate between songs reasonably. The fact that it must format the card for it's own use is also ridiculous. It's impossible to use these cards as multi-function cards if you intend to use them with the RIO. So for us geeks, you cannot just throw some songs onto an SD card and plug it into the RIO. You'll need to let the RIO manager handle it. So if you run from home to work and want to change songs, better bring the f'n cable.
