Cons: Case does not reveal LCD, AAA's Dont Last, Batt. Cover Breaks
The Bottom Line: This is an amazing mp3 player, tiny, light, affordable, and expandable. Did I say rechargeability, remote controller, charger? Do you get this with other mp3 players? No!

| honda_civic_si's Full Review: Samsung Yepp YP-700 (128 MB) MP3 Player |
*UPDATE* Aug. 27/2003:
The Samsung Yepp has a very flimsy battery covery and I would suggest you take every precaution as to not break it like I did. The rechargeable battery cover snaps off and therefore is unable to deliver power to the player. I have sent an email to Samsung, and they have sent me back a form for me to send in my player to have this fixed. I dont think this will be covered by warranty, and I hate sending in things to manufacturers because they take forever to come back. There are some better models of the Yepp player coming out, I suggest you look into those.

--Original Review--
The Samsung Yepp is an excellent Mp3 player, well exceeding my tough expectations. The player features 128mb of internal flash rom memory, for me I can fit 29 songs on it when they average about 5,000 kb, or 5mb a piece. When I use the excellent mp3 decompression software, I can get 40-50 on it.
Size
The size of the player is amazing, small and lightweight. Solidly built, this thing wont be breaking any time soon.
Functionality
There is no off button, but when you press stop for 5 seconds on the remote, which is included, it turns off. Also, if the Stop button has been pushed and no other button will be pushed in the next 5 seconds, it will go off. This applies to the player only.
Included Items
This was of a huge surprise to me, the amount of things it came with. It came with a case, external power pack, headphones, and a case!
Volume
There is no volume issue. If you have the model with the remote control, the volume is fine. What you have to do is turn the volume up to 30, and then turn the volume all the way down on the remote. This way, you only control the volume on the remote, when you turn the remote volume to the max, you will blow your ears off.
SmartMedia
Excellent! What can I say? I mean, you have a tiny player with 128mb on it, and now you can expand it up to 128mb more! I am loving this
.
Software
One word, amazing. This comes with an mp3 decompression tool, making you able to have more music, and device explorer, a music player. You can also change the font to any Windows font for the player. How novel!
Affordability
This is cheaper than a mini disc player, but for me, I cannot transfer mini disc to my player from my computer because I do not have preloaded Windows, in which Sony requires you to have. Mp3 players are the thing now who needs discs?
