| maurizio's Full Review: Samsung Yepp YP-E64 (64 MB) MP3 Player |
Lets face it. Mp3 is the way to go for music these days. But someone should tell the makers of most players a thing or two about design. Most Mp3 players seem really oddly shaped and made. They look futureistic in the worst sense, not in the Bladerunner sense of the word , but in the Judge Dread sense. Just a little overdone.
thats why I support the Samsung and now, the new diamond rio. They follow a simple design sense with clearly labeled and well positioned buttons.
The samsung gets good marks for its simple shape and clear presentation. A good feature for the next line should be backlights on the panels , but I'll take the battery life, trade off for now.
The recording sound and telephone number storage system leaves has some room for improvement , but otherwise, the machine starts quickly and music gets pumped out sounding good.
As for the use of smartmedia cards, yes Samsung seemed greedy in the formating process of the cards, but in my opinjon smart media cards are the way to go , instead fo the compact flash, but Samsung does have to improve on that format and reading problem.
Otherwise, this unit is not built by nerds for nerds, like many other mp3 players. It looks good and does the job well. But it also has a way to go before being perfect.
