Pros: Controls are NOT on the lid, ESP MAX works great, analog volume control.
Cons: Doesn't play MP3, some controls are inside the CD compartment. Bass doesn't work on radio.
The Bottom Line: So, this is it. If you liked what you read, this player is for you. I'm very happy with mine. Good price, warranty and quality.

| milesfarmer's Full Review: Sony Walkman D-F200 Personal CD Player |
I'm extremely pleased with this CD player. I got it for X-mas about two years ago or so, and has worked perfectly to date. I didn't choose this model, my grandfather did for me, but fortunately it has all the features I like in a portable music device.
In the first place, the ESP MAX feature is remarkable. I've used it while walking (hanging on my belt), biking, driving in rough roads, and it plays like if it was sitting there on the table. It's amazing. It won't skip even with the ESP turned off, not easily anyway. ESP turned on definitely assures continuous playing.
Another thing I like is the fact that the controls and display are NOT located on the lid. I've had bad experiences with controls on the lid that stop working, because the cables get broken. Remember you are continuously opening and closing the lid.
The "hold" switch is very useful to prevent accidental button pushing and undesired operation.
I read in other reviews that the beep sound is annoying to some people. I don't think it's a big deal, since you can easily turn it off.
This unit doesn't play MP3 files, and that might be a problem for some people, but I think if you run out of discs to listen to, you can just turn on the radio for a while.
The battery life is very long, and now that you can get rechargeable batts you don't even need an AC power adaptor anymore (although it has a place to plug it in).
The headphones it comes with are fairly good for me: lightweight and good sound, but you can always change them if you want.
Regarding the radio function, 25 FM presets are enough. I don't think you need more. I have trouble using them all!
AVLS (Auto Volume Limiting System) is also a very important thing to have. That way you simply cannot harm your ears. If you find there's too much noise around, you can either turn the player off, or get a pair of noise canceling headphones. That would make it!!
Good luck with your purchase, whatever your choice is.
