I must admit that I am a terrible shopper. I will just up and decide I want something while I am out and will get it. I am terrible with researching brands, different products and prices. *shhh* Don't tell my husband about not doing a good job with comparing prices.

Anyway, I decided that it was time I bought my very own CD player. I can listen to CDs at home, but had no way to hear them at work. I got sick of paying my stepdaughter to put the CD onto a tape so I could listen to it in my cassette player at work. I am happy to have a job where I can listen to music all the time.

So, I decide to heck for waiting for to get this for a Christmas gift. I wanted it and I wanted it now. So off to Walmart I headed. They had several different brands in stock varying in prices. I have bought Sony products in the past that have worked well for me so I decided to stick with that brand.

The Sony D-E220 Portable CD Player was the one that I went with. It is solid navy blue, which happens to be my favorite color.

Note: there is a key that looks more like the one on the actual player, but Epinions won't allow me to use it as it is also used in html. So I have replaced it with (( or )).

On the top of the player you will find the following buttons: open, volume up & down, hold, sound, menu, stop (also works as a pausse button), go backwards and play (also works as a go forward). To go the the beginning of the current song, hit the (( button once. To go to the beginning of the CD, hit the (( repeatedly. To go to the beginning of the next song, hit the )) once. To find the beginning of songs after the next one, hit the )) repeatedly. To go forward quickly hold down the )). To go backwards quickly hold down the ((. When you press the open button the top will pop open so you can put in or remove a CD. You can lock the CD player by pressing the hold button.

This CD player has the following five play modes: normal play, repeat play-all the tracks, single track play, repeat play-a single track and repeat shuffle play. To set any of the repeat modes hit the menu button.

This CD player has a powerful bass sound (Digital MEGA BASS). There are 2 different bass selections that you can set it to. There is an automatic volume limiter system function that keeps down the volume to protect your hears. You can set it by holding down the sound button until AVLS appears in the window. Then you can set the sound to your desired maximum. This option would be good if you were going to let a small child use this and you didn't want them to turn it up too loud and hurt their ears.

Other options you can do with this CD player:

~Hook it up to other stereo equipment (if you buy the correct cable separately)

~Record a CD onto a cassette tape (requires the cable)

~Use the CD player in your car (to do this you need the following: car connecting pack, car battery cord)

This CD player uses 2 AA batteries. I replace my batteries about every week and a half. I listen approximately 20 hours a week. You can also plug the CD player up at your house if you have the AC power adaptor. It does not come with the player. You need the AC-E45HG AC power adaptor. Do not use any other one.

The CD player can be cleaned with a cloth that is slightly wet with water or mild detergent. Do not use alcohol, benzine or thinner.

On the display window on the CD player there is a battery low indicator. It will show you how much life your batteries have left so that you can replace them before they go completely dead.

What I think about this CD player:

I am very happy with my purchase of the Sony D-E220 portable CD player. It plays my music (country, of course) loud and clear. I work in a proof department for a bank and it is very loud in there. My CD player goes plenty loud to play over the sound of all of the proof machines. I would recommend that you purchase this CD player if you are in the market for a portable one. It is lightweight, yet durable. It has been dependable so far. I trust the Sony name and have always purchased reliable products from them.
