This product is not worthy of a full blown review because it has unacceptable sound quality. I have read other reports of this problem in usenet news groups when I found this problem. The FM receiver was plagued with static. If you can't get tolerable sound, then what is the point?

Hopefully, RCA will design better models in the future. I returned my player to Target and purchased the MPIO FL100 (review) via the internet and was pleased with it.

THINGS TO NOTE (even though it is not worthy of a full review)

This player was easy to use and I think my mom could use it, whereas my mom wouldn't be able to work the FL100.

I think RCA shipped over the ear headsets with this so that folks wouldn't notice the hiss. Get a good set of earbuds and you will immediately return your player.

The arm band wouldn't fit my arm. It needs a belt clip of some sort.

I really like the external and user interface design of the unit, but I wish there was a quicker way to "lock"/"hold" the buttons.

STILL WANT THIS PLAYER?

Try it in the store or in the parking lot with a high quality set of earbuds or headset so you can take it back right away if it has the problem. Of course, it is going to be hard to try it unless you bring a laptop with some mp3's on it ;-)

WHAT IS A SUMMARY JUDGEMENT?
The term "Summary Judgement" is reserved for products which don't fulfill their primary purpose. Think "Island of the Misfit Toys".
