Pros: Size, price, sound quality. Controls are easy to use (after I figured them out)
Cons: Slow interface, poor documentation, weak FM radio (like most portable radios).
The Bottom Line: Good value

| djfox's Full Review: RCA Lyra RD1080 (128 MB) MP3 Player |
I am very happy with this unit after a couple of problems initially. I love the sound, but hated the clip-on earphones. I replaced them with a Sony set that I had bought some time ago. I read several reviews complaining about the belt clip, but that has been replaced by a soft case and armband. I usually just drop it in a pocket, however - it's so small.
I had a problem with it playing wma files, but found out my Windows Media Player was saving the files as "protected", meaning they would only play on the computer they were recorded on. So I had to change the setting in Media Player and re-rip them. Now all works OK.
I find the easiest way to load the music on the player is to just drag and drop from Windows Explorer. One thing I don't like is that the player only recognizes the internal memory or the card at a time, not both. You switch between them with the stop button. But I bought a USB 2.0 card reader to use with the card, so now I can see both at the same time, and transfer is faster to boot.
Overall, I am very please with the player after I figured out the bugs. Their support website helped a little, it tells some tricks that the enclosed documentation left out. But support could be better.
