Great Little Machine... one glitch

The positive attributes this device contained were it's size (approx. 2oz), memory (128 MB as opposed to other units at comparable prices which had 1/2 the memory size or less), the FM radio tuner (most units at this price did not have the radio tuner), and the blue back light which was very easy on the eyes. The price was great too. Average price for this device is $129.00 w/o tax. When I asked the customer service rep at Circuit City about this product's return history, he commented that this item is rarely returned defective at the store (of course that is within their warranty period).
This device is best suited for the person on the go, like my daughter, a college student. It is very user friendly and lightweight. This device is one that we can take to the gym, go jogging with, easily slip into a purse or pocket and yet this device has plenty of storage space and great sound.
The one negative comment I have on this device is the volume control. Within 90 days, the volume control locked up on us at 50 (very high volume). It wasn't the hardware that was defective, rather the device itself increased the volume to 50 and locked up. Customer service was not readily available.
Despite the volume control problem, we are still going to purchase another RCA Lyra RD1080. Perhaps this time with the extended store warranty. The product is worth purchasing, mainly because of the features (FM Tuner, lightweight, sound quality, on-board memory,price, and ease of use). For this price (approx. $129.00) I haven't been able to find another comparable device.
