| kaipradel's Full Review: iRiver iMP-150 ChromeX Personal CD Player |
I had been out of the MP3 CD player game for a couple of years after purchasing an iPod. When that died I decided to go back to a CD based system and was looking to pick up where I left off - with RioVolt CD / MP3 player. To my surprise I had to learn that Rio's latest CD player was highly unpopular and so buggy that noone could recommend it. Enter iRiver.
When comparing CD MP3 players one ultimately ends up with narrow assortment of playersl. I found the Nike (Phillips), Sony, and iRiver models most compelling. Nike's version was slightly above my price range and seemed rather bulky. Sony's price tag was what it excluded it from any further investigation. iRiver remained as an inexpensive choice that was highly praised.
After chasing down the product online and learning that it was a highly sought after product for the holiday season, I ended up buying directly through the iRiver website. Four days later I received the unit that even came with a car charger and car adapter all for one price.
The unit itself is sleek - much sleeker than the pictures reveal. The case is smooth with a nice chrome finish around the display. The display rivals that of the iPod even though it is smaller. It displays all the informatiokn you could ask for and makes good use of backlighting.
Batteries last for abotu 10-12 hours although that will vary depending on the type of CD you play. Audio CD's spin faster and will eat up battery power faster.
