jmmalueg's Full Review: Power Acoustik A2400DB Car Amp
First off I'm running this with a pair of Pioneer TS-SW124D's in a custom box. Some stats the Ts-SW124D is a 300 watt RMS, 1200 watt peak. I'm currently running the subs in parallel making 2 ohm mono. All this in an S-10.
Secondly, I bought the amp with some knowledge of a very similar model. This amp in my setup runs 1800 watts Peak and 1400 watts RMS. In my setup each sub would probably see about 500 watts. However I listen to quite a bit of Metallica and classic rock. However I've been testing the limits of the amp seeing if with the level at less than 50% if I can get the amp to clip the signal. However I've yet to get close to that mark yet. I've also bought an sound level meter from Radio Shack and measured the Db's and I am maintaining an average over 100 db, I've yet to really use a competition bass CD. Yet the amp remains efficient and does not consume excessive amounts of voltage. So my opinion of the amp is that it is pretty solid.
What I really love is that the amp comes with everything necesary to bridge the amp to another. Plus it comes a with a bass boost controller which can be mounted away from the amp in a glove box. This controller tells the amp to isolate the signal around 45 hz and amplify it to a given level dependent on the turn of a knob. Also there is a built in crossover, and a sub-sonic filter as well.
The only thing I didn't like about the amp was a metal strip with Power Acoustik's logo on it pasted to the amp. I almost imediately ripped it off and threw it away. Sort of a return buster, but the amp works great, no harm done.
Good power for the amount of money I spent. I bought the amp from Etronics.com and spent $260.
