Pros: Economical, 16ms response time, perfect for upgrading from CRT
Cons: Poor built-in speaker performance, no digital output, no USB hub functionality
The Bottom Line: I would definitely recommend this monitor to anyone looking for a good--but affordable--upgrade from CRT. Don't buy it for the speakers, but its performance can't be beat for the price.

| sgtwyatt's Full Review: Princeton Digital LCD1700 17 inch LCD Monitor |
After researching several 17" LCD monitors I ended up choosing this one because of the positive reviews it already had, the price, and features for the money. What especially attracted me to this monitor was its 16ms response time at a very economical price.
After plugging this monitor into my computer and ensuring that it was running in native resolution mode (1280x1024 @ 75hz) I was quickly impressed. The images were very bright and sharp. No dead pixels were noted, a definitely plus!
The monitor performs well for both everyday computing as well as general gaming. As I am not a hardcore gamer I can't offer a very comprehensive gaming review, but so far I have not encountered any problems with the performance of this monitor in 3D mode. The fact that it offers a 16ms response time makes it a good economical gaming solution.
Although a nice bonus, the built-in speakers are about comparable to standard laptop speakers and aren't a real viable alternative to external speakers. With that said, I personally don't hold this against the Princeton LCD1700 as audio shouldn't really be the focus of a monitor. I'll stick to my external speakers and subwoofer.
The Princeton LCD1700 is not without it's drawbacks. Most notably this model does not offer digital video output, nor does it act as a USB hub (which Dell monitors do). However, for an economical upgrade from CRT you will find that the Princeton can keep up with its more expensive competition.
If you're looking for an affordable, but well-performing upgrade from your current CRT definitely consider this monitor.
