The HP OfficeJet 6110xi is a printer, scanner, copy machine and fax all in one office companion. Print at 4800 optimized dpi, scan and copy at 1200 x 2400 dpi optical resolutions and fax at 33.6 Kbps.
Printing
The 6110xi comes with a tri-color cartridge and a black cartridge to give you 1200 x 1200 dpi (dots per inch) and with the optional photo cartridge you can get it up to 4800-optimized dpi.
They use Drop-on-demand thermal inkjet printing with Print Resolution Technology of Photoret III and Photoret IV with the optional photo cartridge. The printer languages are HP PCL 3 enhanced.
You can print photo quality on photo paper and 4 x 6 inch borderless photos on HP premium plus photo paper.
The rated print speeds are up to 19 pages per minute in draft and the best mode produces only about 2 pages per minute using the black. In the color mode it will print up to 15 pages per minute in draft and about a half of a page in one minute.
Scanning & Copying
Without being there you can scan or copy up to 35 pages with the automatic document feeder. You can make enlargements from 25 to 200 percent.
It copies up to 19 copies per minute in black & white and up to 14 copies in color per minute.
Scanning from the feeder is up to 600 x 1200 dpi and from the glass it is up to 1200 x 2400 dpi. It can be enhanced up to 19,200 dpi.
Fax
No need for a computer to fax with the 33.6 Kbps fax modem. With the ability to program in 75 speed dials (6 one touch buttons for quick speed dial.) and the memory built-in to fax up to 100 pages makes this great for any small business at home.
There is a green light that lights up when the fax is in use and the light is also used if you set it up to auto answer.
Fax is up to 300 x 300 dpi.
Paper handling
The 6100xi has capacity for 100 sheets of paper in the input tray or you can place in up to 15 envelopes or 40 cards stock or 25 transparencies at a time. On top is a 35-page automatic document feeder.
The output tray can handle up to 50 sheets of paper at a time.
HP offers an optional two-sided printing accessory if you need to print on both sides.

Follow instructions, the first thing to do is to load the software before you get started if you are connecting the OfficeJet 6110xi to a computer.
The 6100xi does require some simple assembly when you get it out of the retail box.

Overall
You can operate the HP OfficeJet 6110xi without a computer for most purposes but to get the full potential I recommend hooking it up through a computer.
Setting up the 6110xi is easy but getting use to the control panel takes a little bit of learning because there are so many buttons.
Printing documents are a snap, color photos come out in brilliant color when using a glossy photo paper. The 4 x 6 inch prints look good being borderless and they seem larger since there is no border. Overall printing is very good.
Getting use to the document feeder took a little getting use to but, I found if you stack everything you want to copy through the document feeder neatly that it works pretty good.
Copping and scanning work fairly well but I do believe that a plain scanner produces a little better quality.
I didnt try the fax so I can not comment on that.
Would I buy one? Yes if I used it for a small business at home because it saves you space and provides you with several devices and functions all in one. For a non business use I would prefer a separate scanner of better quality and a separate printer.
