| kcrunch1's Full Review: Epson Stylus Photo 820 InkJet Printer |
When I first got this printer it printed photos very well and I was very pleased. I have owned 2 other Epsons and the others were very reliable and had no problems at all however this piece of junk constantly get's the print heads clogged and requires constant cleaning. The cleaning uses your ink to clean it so I constantly run out of ink as well and not for printing but for cleaning the stupid heads that clog up. There is a way to continue using your cartridge when the printer gives you a warning sign that the ink is low but the ink is actually half full. The printer will shut down the printing if the printer thinks the ink is empty. What you can do is buy a chip resetter. This is a small device that you use to reset the micro chip that is on the cartridge so that you can continue using the cartridge until it's really empty. You can also refill your cartridge and reset the chip to full. This printer Epson is the only company out there that requires this chip resetting to reset the chip. hp, lexmark, and brother doesn't do that. I don't know if their newer printers are as lame as this one but I wouldn't get this one ever again and would read reviews about any printer I am considering before buying one.
