| stse's Full Review: Hewlett Packard DeskJet 940c InkJet Printer |
Last time I reviewed a Espon printer. I thought it was a good printer. However, the more or the longer I used it, the more annoying it becomes. Anyway, I will compare hp with Espon later.
Price:
we are in the 21st century, everyone who owns a computer must have a color printer. HP offers different variety of models. And yet hp 940c offers the affordable price with great quality. I bought it around 100 dollars and I am satisfied, I think it may come down now due to bad economy.
Ports
My old espon doesn't have usb port which is the universal serial bus. I had to use the parallel port. Now, with HP, I can have two ports hooked up to two different pcs. Reason? Networking purpose, either I can share with them or doing it on a stand alone purpose.
Installation
Everything comes with a CD for usb or parallel installation. One thing I wanted to point out is that windows 98se don't have the driver for it. However, you can download it from hp website.
SPECIFICATIONS
When it comes to printing, this printer can print graphics up to 2400 x dip color. It's great for family photo captured from digital camera and/or just printing pictures download from internet
Easy photo software kit
It's 33% faster and 50% more paper input capacity (150 sheets vs. 100 sheets). It says that it is better than 930c. However, I didn't try it with 930c in terms of comparing speed. I am satisfied with it so far. Besides, for home use, how fast do you want? You are not doing mass producing copies using printers. Most likely you are printing articles, news, resumes, documents. I would say the most it is about 30 pages, it can finish printing in a minute or so.
Ink indicator will avoid running out of ink during important printing projects and you can hit a button that
is like an X button. That print-cancel button stops unwanted print jobs quickly, saving paper and ink

Compatibility:
Windows (3.1x-enhanced mode, 95, 98, 2000, Me and NT 4.0, XP Home & XP Professional);
Macintosh (USB-connect only for Mac OS 8.6 or above, and MS 0S X)
Best of it:
The best thing about HP,
1. Starts up quickly and quietly, unlike Epson, Epson makes a lot of noise.
2. Print better quality, the print heads come with the ink cartridges, Espon's ink cartridges tend to get dried easily. I spent a fortune on Espon's color ink.
3. Fast. and No jam. Easy to print. So far, I have not had a single jam on it.
4. Automatically turned on. When you print from windows, it turns on the printer when it senses the print job coming.
5. It also comes with a kodak like paper, When it prints color picture, you will feel like you are seeing a real photo from camera.
6. Good prize. For $100 or so, It's a bargain!!
Not so good about it.
1. Printer Tray wastes space. 930c can flip the trap when not in use, but 940c can't.
2. The software sometimes sense the out of ink quickly which in fact I still have lots of ink.
3. There is only one light indicate about your ink cartridge, you have to lift it up to know which cartridge is out, meaning that you may have to depend on your software or output to determine which ink cartridge should be replaced.
4. Heavy, it's kind of heavy about 20 pounds., but it is not major once it is set up.
Conclusion:
It's a very good product for home use especially it is so quiet and starts up so quick.Easy of use however it wastes space. The tray is good and very easy to use. On top of the tray, you can put into your envelop and print it out without a hunch. I think for a price of around $100. It's worth it!
