I bought the first Epson ink jet (I even helped the store help unpack the crate so I could grab mine from the top). Since then I've upgraded twice with each printer lasting about 5 years. With each model Epson has improved quality, speed, and noise.
I use mine for everything from work documents to digital photography. I have pictures hanging on the wall that people think I had professionally printed. With the mail in rebate I ended up paying about $60 for the printer, making it not only the best printer I've owned, but the cheapest.
The user interface on the C62 is simple and easy to use. I would however like to see more feedback on the printer itself. Feedback currently relies on 3 LEDs that flash depending on what the problem is. The prefer to give feedback via the software. The software interface works well for this except when your printer isn't connected directly to your computer.
I would still like to see Epson go to the 1 color per cartridge design. I don't like paying $20-$30 just because I ran out of one color. I also have to warn people about using the "generic" ink cartridges. I tried to save a few bucks and ended up gumming up my ink jets. It cost me another ink cartridge just to clean out the nozzles! I went back to Epson and haven't had any problems since. Because of the cost of the printer it was a real dilemma for me whether to just buy another printer or spend the time and money cleaning out this one. In the end I knew that I couldn't bring myself to through this printer out, so I might as well clean it out, even at the expense of the wasted ink.
