I agree, but I believe you misunderstood what I meant. I was comparing the photo printed through the printer to an actual print straight from the negative.

An entry level professional camera I would think should hold up better than many older digital cameras. I think the majority of problems would come in depending on the scanner used to digitize the image. A poor scanner makes a poor digitized image regardless of how good the camera is. A digital camera skips this step of using a scanner and are "purer" to the computer. If you use a high quality or professional scanner, the results would be very different.
