The Bottom Line: Great quality, easy to use, limited to 4x6 or smaller, not very easy to find media in store (but very easy on internet). Finished prints are remarkable!
rickcvg's Full Review: Sony Digital Photo SV55 Thermal Printer
The Sony DPP-SV55 printer is an outstanding quality printer from the name we've all come to correlate with quality. The prints are photo lab quality and just about everyone who looks at the prints actually thinks I got them done at a lab. The printer is based on dye sublimation technology which uses three color dyes and a clear coat finish which can be selected to gloss or matte finish. Operation is simple as the printer can be used both with a PC or alone with a television for display. I personally use this printer with the PC as it provides for more editing options with photo software.
The media is brand specific and must be Sony brand. While the suggested retail price is a bit high ($20 for 25 pictures), you can find the packs much cheaper at places on the internet. The print packs consist of 25 4x6 print backs with snap off edges and just enough "ribbon" to finish 25 prints.
The only downfall to this printer is the fact that it cannot do 8x10 or other large size prints. Other than that fact, the quality will amaze you and anyone you show the prints to. You will not be disappointed with this purchase.
