| marcies2's Full Review: RCA Lyra RD1021 (64 MB) MP3 Player |
I bought the Lyra 1021 player at Radio Shack and paid $110.00 canadian. I sat down and read all two booklets and then went to the website to download all drivers for the Lyra 1021. It took a little while (about 5 hours) to install the Lyra and get it to work properly. I installed and uninstalled a total of 6 times. The website had the full instructions written out step by step and with this in hand I finally was able to load 13 songs in the mp3 format. I did not use the music match to download any mp3 I just used Windows explorer. This little baby worked beyond my wildest expectations once everything was working perfectly. I bought this product because of the reviews I read on this website. Everyone seems to have had a great experience with the Lyra and this influenced my decision. I was looking at several other mp3 players but because of the product ratings etc. I decided to go with the Lyra 1021. Once I got to know the product better and how to use it, and upon reading one of the reviews I decided to try to convert the mp3 files to either WMA or MP3pro or VBR and with Music Match jukebox and the help menus I was able to do just that. I managed to get 37 files in mp3proVBR onto the Lyra that equals over 2.5 hours of music. Mp3proVBR is the method I use on the music files when I download to the Lyra. Once you get to know this product everything is smooth sailing. I cannot describe the feeling I had when I finally got everything working and the Lyra playing it was just great. The RCA website advises that you can load the tracks in anyway, but my Lyra still loads them alphabetically which is a minor problem. I really want to thank everyone who wrote the reviews that influenced me into buying the Lyra. It was the player for me. I am also planning to buy the memory card either in 128 or 256 for more music. I use the Lyra for work and for the gym. Thanks again everyone.
P.S. I could not add to the cons field. A person purchasing the Lyra should go to the website and follow the installation directions listed there instead of in the manuals.
