| snowgirl29's Full Review: RCA Lyra RD1071 (128 MB) MP3 Player |
This PLAYER is awesome if you are looking for durability and a simple, affordable way to get tunes while on the go. Good for 1st time portable mp3 person. It has basic playback features, shuffle, lock button to keep player from coming on without pressing a button(keep from draining battery). I can't remember the headphones, because I always trash them and use my expensive pair-they were ear buds I think. I paid 70 bucks for it at Wal-Mart as an impulse to pacify me until the ipod gets perfected. Warranty I didn't check-do not know... because Wal-Mart purchase-I didn't care. I snowboarded with it, rollerbladed, off-road biked, lifted at gym and ran-this player has been fallen on while snowboarding, crammed in my backpack(MBA student), crammed in luggage(travel 90% for career), crammed in seat back pocket of airplanes, placed in and out of my glovebox in my car on 100 degree Dallas days. It has been sweated on at the gym and lastly dropped in a swimming pool this summer. After pool incident-my tech boyfriend laid it out on his table(of course guys can FIX ANYTHING) for 6 days-as I rolled my eyes while putting the NEW AAA in it and IT WORKED!(of course). Now granted it was a little "temperamental" at first-trying to skip when I plugged in my headphones, I assume perhaps a little moisture was still in there. Outer case is tight plastic-but not water proof. When completely dried out - I never had a problem. Lasted another 4 months until recently-The only reason I was forced to get a new one-I left it in the seatback pocket of the airplane last week and am lost without it. This was my 2nd Mp3 player-I'm on 3rd now, as a sports freak-they have to be sturdy. I don't spend a lot of money-because no player has everything consumers need yet(including ipod) 2. Ebay exists for a reason. I'm now on my 3rd player and am glad to say that I ordered another RCA product.(2 out of 3 of my mp3 players have been RCA)
Pros:
DURABLE. Tiny, lightweight. DURABLE. Easy to use. Shuffle option. Lock Option to prevent battery drainage etc..
Cons:
Small music memory storage. No music order choice on player. Bad software-not user friendly, not enough features-can't choose playlist once downloaded onto player. Battery life lasts 8 hours under normal volume-only last about 4 hours if loud/gym. Music distorted when turned up loud, unless brand new battery(enjoy that first hour loudness-that's all you'll get). Lasts another 4-8 hours at normal volume.
