There are many that claim receivers can never offer the same level of performance as separates. My experience has shown me otherwise with the Denon AVR-5803. In many cases, this receiver outperforms most separates at its price point and beyond. Thanks to the Quad-Dual Differential DAC implementation (rarely found on receivers let alone more costly processors), the AVR-5803 had some of the best SNR measurements I have ever seen! As a DAC, the AVR-5803 has no equal IMO. Its power amp was more than capable of driving my 4ohm 89dB efficient speakers in my medium sized living room without breaking a sweet.
