There are other reviews here with more details, and I am not going to repeat here what has already been said very well.
This receiver has the usual inputs CD, DVD, VCR, phono, etc. There is AM/FM tuner which works well, and pulls in all the stations in this urban area. For output, it supports 5.1 or 6.1 speakers. I am using Bose Acoustimass speakers for a 5.1 arrangement, and I left my old Cerwin Vega speakers attached as the "B" speakers for pure stereo.
My unit runs quite hot, even at low volume levels, and I am very careful not to put anything on top of it. The temperature seems to be the same whether I am running 5 speaker or 7 speakers, at low or high volume.
The installation instructions are pretty bad. I am pretty good a following instructions, and English is my native tongue. Perhaps if I had read more comic books as a child I would have done better with the "manual". Often I found myself just shaking my head, wondering what they wanted me to do.
After I set the receiver up with my Bose speakers, I listened to various sources, then called it a night and went to bed. The next day, I started reading the manual over at the beginning, and ended up pulling out all the wires and doing it again. The sound was much better, so I had done something wrong the first time, even though I was reading along very carefully, going step by step. I wish the directions had been clear enough to prevent that misstep.
Nevertheless, this receiver works just fine now.
The remote and the front panel controls all take some getting used to... they are not nearly intuitive as other audio equipment that I have used in the past.
