Pros: Slightly better than the previous mid level Panasonic receivers. DTS-ES Capability. Clear sound output.
Cons: Misrepresented by various Panasonic sites (See Review). Hard to operate remote.
The Bottom Line: It is a very good receiver in the midrange product group. However, I can not recommend it to any buyer (See review)

www.panasonic.ca claims this unit (Both black and silver models) has Dolby Digital EX decoding capabilities. Upon reading about the product specs in panasonic.ca I decided to purchase a unit.
After purchase, I noticed there were no indications about the Dolby EX decoding on the unit or the box.
I checked the other Panasonic sites and did not see Dolby Digital EX capability in this unit. Panasonic US denied the Dolby Digital EX decoding capability completely.
I contacted Panasonic Canada and inquired about this. They explained that at the time of development of this unit, they did not have permission to use the Dolby Digital EX logo on the unit and only obtained it after the units were shipped (I find that hard to believe, Panasonic developing someone's technology without having permission) . I explained to Panasonic Canada's customer service that it is like purchasing a BMW with a Toyota logo on it. I paid for the Dolby EX and expect its logo on my unit. After a one month run around, I received a reply from them saying I can only return the unit to the dealer for refund. My only option to stay with Panasonic and get the features I want (Dolby Digital EX) is to buy the higher model SA-HE200 for $400.00(CDN)More!!!. I am extremely disappointed as I have researched AV receivers for months wasted hours of my time price shopping and placed many long distance calls to Panasonic customer service for a month just to be told the best they can do is to refund my money. I sold my old panasonic receiver which had similar capabilities at a very cheap price in order to buy this unit (I seem to have just thrown money away in this purchase). I feel deceived and no longer trust Panasonic. They seem to misinform customers in order to sell more units.
Based on the experience I had, I can not recommend the purchase of this unit. If you decide to buy this unit, contact Panasonic in your country and ask for explaination in this matter.
