| holz's Full Review: Yamaha RX-V730 6.1 Channels Receiver |
I spent a great deal of time previewing various audio components before I made my decision. While the Yamaha RX-V730 really doesn't shine in any particular category, for the money, it is very difficult to beat.
The common complaint with Yamaha is that the receiver tends to make things too "bright". I have not found this to be a problem with the Sapphire Audio (http://www.sapphireaudio.com) speakers I have paired this receiver with. I would however tend to shy away from pairing any Yamaha receiver with say Klipsch speakers. Klipsch is known to be bright and the Yamaha would bring that out even more. In short, with careful consideration, I have found this complaint about Yamaha to be minor to non-existent in a system that is well thought out.
In this reviewers opinion, the sound quality is excellent. Listening to Elton John's live DVD on this receiver is simply fantastic. The receiver is capable of all the major digital formats and does it very well. The on screen display is very handy if you are using this with a home theater system although the display on the unit is completely adequate if you do not have your video sources routed through the receiver. There are ample ways to customize just about all the surround sound options to fit your taste and listening environment.
This receiver is well designed with a great mix of features, power and value. Highly recommended.
