Pros: Remote, the number of variations, and a timer.
Cons: Hard to clean.
The Bottom Line: If I had to do it all over again, I would still choose this fan. It's a high quality fan with plenty of options, and is very affordable!
I bought my Aloha Breeze tower fan two years ago for an unairconditioned room in my apartment. I found the fan on sale for $25 at Wal-Mart, and bought it because it was very compact and had a variety of settings.
Setting it up was quite simple. I had to assemble the base, which came with two halves and screws for attaching them together and to the fan. The cord for the fan is approximately 4.5 feet, which worked well since there was an outlet near by.
The fan has three speed settings: low, medium, and high, as well as an oscillate function. Like most traditional fans, these work well. The fan oscillates for 180 degrees, which covers the room well.
There is also a timer function for the fan, which I do not use often, but it seems to work quite well. The pre-set times are for one hour, two hours, and four hours, and can be set with the press of a button.
The last button on the Aloha Breeze controls the breeze settings, which are variable strength, much like a real "beach breeze". These work in conjunction with the low, medium, and high settings, so you can have the fan barely running, with an occassional gust, or you can have the fan running on high, with very strong spurts. There are two variable breeze settings. One is more predictable, with stronger and weaker breezes at fairly equal intervals. The other is much more variable, with differing lengths of strong and weak air flow. The variable settings are my favorite for when I'm sitting at my desk, because I don't get too cold or too hot.
The fan also comes with a remote control -- great for those lazy summer days when I need to adjust the fan from my chair! This is perhaps one of the BEST features I could ask for in a fan. The remote can control all of the functions described above, as well as turning the fan off and on.
The one main disadvantage of this fan is cleaning it. Because the fan cover is not detachable, it must be cleaned as one piece. I'm highly allergic to dust(mites) and need to clean it thoroughly and fairly often, and this requires cleaning the cover with pledge and a q-tip or paper towel twisted to a point. However, it does not collect a lot of dust, and most people may not need to clean it as thoroughly or as often as I do.
This is by far one of the best fans I have bought. It has been heavily used for two years and I have yet to have any problems with it. It's a great value and has enough functions to make everyone happy.
The spacesaving design of this tower fan provides for a lot of flexibility. It fits easily into or in between narrow spaces. It includes a convenient ...More at Target
