Pros: Lots of Built in Codes
Cons: Clunky to Use
The Bottom Line: I would avoid it if you switch between components often.
If not, it works pretty well.

| gtsurvey's Full Review: Sony RM-VL1000 LCD Remote Control |
The Sony RM-VL1000 Remote Commander has learning ability and lots of built-in codes, for common components and less common ones including amplifiers and receivers. The setup is a little complicated but goes pretty fast once you get the hang of it. There is also a code search function which worked for me on a couple of components where the built-in codes did not work.
The Learning buttons are easy to program and work well.
On the negative side, the remote is not easy to navigated. Often times you will need to punch in a 3 button sequence to change components (Component>Scroll>Select). This can be a real pain for a home theater user who needs to switch through component controls often. I would prefer to have a "hard" button for each device to make switching easier.
The overall design is not the greatest either and may take 2 hands to use properly, another big negative.
