I got a BenQ Cd-RW with my computer when I ordered it off of e-bay in September. It works like a gem to say the least. I have not had any problems ever with it period.
I did not have to install it myself but I can tell from its operation that it would have been a smooth install. I have worked with computers for 4 years and am a A+ certified Tech so I feel I can judge a product and this one is at the top of my list.
I decided to add this device on and pay an extra fee of $40 I believe which was not bad at all when I ordered my computer. it is connected through an IDE cable and I ahve no problems burning a cd from my DVD rom drive to the CD-RW drive. the device comes with Nero Burning rom which is very easy to use and also a diskette of drivers incase you didn't want to use nero or did not have an OS like WIN XP that automatically loads them. (Nero does not include drivers)
It is a very efficient drive I feel since I can burn a whole disk in about 5 minutes or so. It is good for backing up data whenever I need to and I have also used it as an independent drive through Nero's software so it is like a hard drive (uses a cd-rw disk) so I can backup files and just take them with me where ever I go.
Overall I would suggest this to anyone who wants a nice affordable cd burner and want high reliability. This can fit anyones price range and have never had any need to try their tech support.
