| TrevorM's Full Review: CenDyne Pioneer DVR A04 DVD-RW Burner |
This drive is made by Pioneer, and is the same drive as Apple's SuperDrive.
Software bundled include: Sonic MyDVD, a fairly basic DVD burning program ... makes menus with buttons that are thumbnails of a frame in the video. That's it. WinDVD ... it plays DVDs in Windows. Good name for the program, no?
The all-purpose burning program is Nero 5.5. This is a very good program. If you already have Nero running with a CD-RW drive in your system, just enter the new serial number (there's a menu item for this somewhere), and you can use it with both recorders (though not simultaneously, as far as I can tell).
The drive works as promised, and is very quiet. It can be mounted vertically with no problem. If you have to have DVD burning capabilities now, I say go for it. If you can wait six months, I would do that and get a 4x or greater burner. 4.7 GB is a lot, and takes about an hour per disc at 1x (if you get cheap media off eBay like I do, it'll be 1x media only for now).
