Pros: BUFFER, NOISE, PRICE

The Bottom Line: If you don't need the extra rewrite speed offered by other brands, BUY it, otherwise, I'd suggest otherwise

| pluhh's Full Review: Samsung SW 248B CD-RW Burner |
Samsung have developed a good brand image of late, and I was in anticipation of upgrading from my old 12x Ricoh Writer that had given up.
The drive is well built and a tad bit shorter in length than most (a plus in small and large cases alike). It came with 2 CD's, on with Nero, although not the latest version, a free update is available on their website, and an online tutorial on the other.
The drive is suspiciously quiet... very good thanks to Samsungs damping system. Quiet however, doesn't equal SPEED. I also tested a new MSI CD-RW which was rated at 52x, and at 48x burning, proved to just about about equal each other. The only downfall of the drive then, the slow rewrite of just 16x. Almost all of the competition out there uses 24x rewrite and if your primary use is RW media, you might want to look away, unless you look at that price tag again, very well placed in the market.
