I first saw this in a PC gamers mag and thought it would be nice to have on my Mac. Then I saw that it wasn't shipping for the Mac, so I merely hoped that Blizzard would do the same good job porting it to the Mac that they did with WarCraft. It took a while, but they did a great job!
Gameplay is very easy to figure out - without a manual (borrowing a friends CD), I was able to quickly figure out how to get the game going and start doing well for myself. Part of this comes from using WarCraft, part of it comes from the fact that they make the software good enough that it's easy to use.
The animations in the game are great, and if you play the single player version, the story line is pretty compelling. If you don't care about the story line, that's okay, 'cause the action on screen is great too. When the different species start to fight, watch out - it's messy!
The sound effects are pretty realistic, but you will occasionally get tired of the unit's replies when you select them (although the terran tankers will occasionally surprise you with something unusual...).
Net play is great - it's fun to take on the trash-talkers around the office and kick their butts, or find someone on Battle.net and make a new friend/enemy.
Blizzard did a great job taking the best parts of WarCraft, adding some sci-fi, and letting you take on friends/family/strangers.
