Pros: Great Suction, and propels well. Long cord.

Cons: Cover that shows scratches easily

The Bottom Line: Buy one if you can afford it. It has reduced dusting and increased the cleanliness of my home.

I purchased this vacuum after becoming frustrated with a Panasonic Canister vacuum. It was loosing its suction and was just wearing out. Since purchasing the Panasonic I have moved into a single level dwelling, no more stairs etc. So I was looking to try an upright unit.

Reviews on this site as well as other research and finally a local salesperson sold me on this Riccar.

I love the way this vacuum goes from my medium plush pile carpet to my ceramic tile. The suction is unbelievable and I really love the tight fit of the bag onto the suction nozzle which leaves no chance for dust to escape into the vacuum.

It propels easily and picks up almost everything. The long cord lets me go almost everywhere in my place with no need to replug. I have used the attachments and they work quite well, and I really enjoy the length of the extender wand.

The weight is somewhat heavy, but likely accounts for much of the suction and benefits of the vac. I am a bit fussy and don't like the way the shiny black plastic body shows scratches, would much rather pay a bit more for a textured thicker plastic body.....guess I want it to weigh a bit more.hehe
