Pros: Allergy filters, extension hose, Turbo mini vacuum, cleaner carpets and floor. Less allergies!
Cons: No "cons" I am absolutely satisfied with it.
The Bottom Line: I think this is the best vacuum made!! Totally worth the money! Filtration system is amazing. Suction is phenomenal! Nothing I've owned before could even come close.

After spending roughly $1,100 on 5 (3 Sears Kenmore, one Hoover and one Bissell) vacuums over 12 years we decided to find one that would last for at least 2 years. We have 4 kids, 2 dogs and 5 cats. We wanted one that would take care of all the dander, dirt, dust, etc. in our home. At the time we purchased the Riccar I was looking at Dyson. I took one look at the plastic brush and thought it wouldn't last at our home. We tried out the Riccar at the vacuum store in our area and I was amazed!! We bought the vacuum, the extension hose and the mini vacuum for stairs/furniture. Total came to about $600. That was a year and 2 months ago. I have taken it to the shop where I purchased it and had it serviced at one year. It was like I got a new vacuum!!
Our vacuum is warranted for 5 years. The shop owner said it should last for about 10 years. I did speak to a woman that owned a Riccar and hers lasted almost 11 years.
As far as the allergy filters, etc. they work excellent!! I can tell a difference after I vacuum. There are 5 allergy filters on this vacuum. One in the under the bag, one one front of the machine. I'm not sure where the other 2 are, but there seem to be more than on any other vacuum I've owned because I don't have as much trouble with allergies now. The bags are like a bag-in-a-bag. That helps a great deal, too.
I have a 2 story home. The extension hose and Turbo mini vacuum was WELL worth the money!! My vacuum doesn't feel that heavy to me. I never weighed it and I don't remember how much they said it weighed. As far as what on-board attachments came with it. It has a corner/crevice tool, a small bare floor tool and a hard extension wand. I purchased the separate extension hose that is about 13 - 14 feet long. It can attach either to the end of the attached hose or in the opening above the attached hose, which I prefer. I use the stair attachment on my furniture. The hose that is attached to the vacuum can be stretched and used to dust ceiling and fans, but I prefer to use the longer extension hose I purchased because it allows better mobility.
You do have to replace bags, but with the tab on the bag that allows you to cover the hole and not let the dust and dirt out. I know some people use the argument that replacing a bag of dirt is not healthy. What wasn't healthy for me was pouring the dust and dirt from the dust/dirt collector from my old vacuum and inhaling the stuff floating back into the air. I would sneeze, cough, and my eyes would water like crazy. I no longer have that problem.
I have also noticed my carpets coloring are closer to the original color. I honestly think the suction is SO good it has picked up dirt my old vacuums left behind!
This is the most expensive vacuum we have ever bought. It is totally worth the money!!!!
