One can never have enough CD-R discs. That I have learned long time ago. This is even more true when the media is good and free after rebate. So I got a spindle of Ritek Ridata 48x CD-R 700Mb/80Min 50 pack CD-R discs.
Packaging
The discs came in a spindle (cake box), which is easy to open and close repeatedly. The outer paper ring states that discs are Silver-Silver and the disc dye is gold/slightly greenish in color. The dye looks uniform on all discs, unlike some no-name and some Memorex discs I have seen.
The upper surface of the discs carries no branding; just uniform matte finish. I dont use permanent markers on my discs, so the surface doesnt matter.
Speed
The disc are rated at 48x and were recorded by my DVD burner at 32x (the burner refuses to burn them at faster speed). No matter, at 32x the disc can be recorded in under 3 minutes, which works for me.
Capacity
The discs can fit 700 Mb of data or 80 minutes of audio/music. I have not tried to overburn them and thus cannot comment on that.
Reliability
The burn reliability has been outstanding so far out of 15 discs no one was a coaster. The playback reliability was excellent as well the discs played in my cars CD changer, in my DVD player and my portable CD player as well as both my computer drives (both music and data discs).
Conclusion
The Ridata Ritek 48x CD-R media is easily among the best CD-R media I have used and cannot be beat for the price. Highly recommended.
