Yup. I like that. One step up from Kix. People mention "Kix" and I can't even remember 'em. I was a fan of hair metal (that said, I was also only twelve) back then, so it's pretty bad I can't remember 'em.
Oh well. Thanks for the comment :)

Oh, honey...not Great White. I mean, I didn't even like them in the eighties. They're a step below even the horrid strains of Poison, and only one step up from Kix. Eeeeewwwwwww...
My personal prejudice aside, this review was hilarious. I'm still sittin' here laughin' my butt off at how horrible the song selection is on this CD. What a perfect metaphor for a terrible music year...
Rock on, baby...

Expose was the first concert I ever went to without my parents. No. I'm not proud. And a friend bought my ticket. And he shouldn't be proud either. No pride anywhere here...
But great review. Pity about the music.

I'm not exactly a Sheena Easton freak but I love "For Your Eyes Only"; it's on my 100 top romantic songs if I ever decide to start on that one...

...1989 was quite a bad year for music, so you can't expect much from there. I haven't even heard of half the bands that were mentioned in the compilation.
Great review.

No, no, no. Not Robert Palmer. I just saw the Behind The Music (love that show) and it was...(drum roll please)...PETER GABRIEL ;)
Sorry about making you feel old. It could have been worse. Seriously. I could be 16 which would have meant I was what? 3 in 1989?
:)

...junior high in 1989 stuff, capische? ;)
Remembering the clubs then (since I wasn't yet married and was dj'ing on weekends), Pump Up The Jam was as annoyingly ever-present as the Macarena a decade later.
Real Love was also very popular, and for a while, Jody Whatley looked like the new diva. She had street cred from her time with Shalamar, but then got that Best New Artist Grammy Kiss of Death.
And I remember the Donny Osmond resurgence. At least they put Sacred Emotion instead of Solider of Love on this disc. Someone tres cool (was it Robert Palmer?) helped out in this project, much like Elton John had rescued Neil Sedaka for a hit single a decade earlier.
Thanks for posting and letting me relive the memories!
George
who was in junior high school much earlier. ;)
