I bought my Punch 800a2 just about a year ago, and I could not be happier with it. Fosgate rates this amp rather conservatively. 200 x 2 (4ohm stereo) 800 x 1 (4ohm mono). Remember that these ratings are RMS. This amp will put out these numbers on a daily basis, and reliably. When bridged into 4ohm stereo, this monster can push in excess of 920 watts. Now, considering that this amp only cost me around 500 dollars brand new, it certainly is a good value. Not only that, but Rockford Fosgate packs some rather cutting edge technology into their amps. Mosfet power supplies, INDIGO technology, Transana circuitry. The INDIGO technology ensures that power will never drop below the RMS rating, even when your electrical system is under a heavy load. Now, I purchased this amp for a special purpose. Competition, and price. Not that the Transana circuitry doesn't make the sound crystal clear, but I wanted membrane smashing, bone crunching SPL power. I installed this amp in my 96' Eclipse. Along with Rockford's Punch 250a2 (a great high-end amp), and a Sony XM502 to drive my mid and high end. Using two mid-level subs (Rockford 10" XLC's)and running the amp 4ohm stereo (200x2) I was able to pressure 148.7 db of SPL on the dash. Not Outlaw, but by IASCA rules. The gain and 45htz bass boost were turned almost completely down, for fear of blowing my subs out(which I did shortly after, blew it inverted). I'm sure with beefier subs, and more of them, you could crank up the power and put out some serious windshield shattering bass. All in all, considering the price and what you get, the Punch 800a2 is a great deal with rock solid reliability. Happy Bassing!
